About
Us

We are a trio of master craftsmen, known as the “the sons of Ivaldi” who travel between festivals offering the chance to experience the life of a artisan to the public, specialising in the traditional crafts of leatherwork, wood turning and blacksmithing giving you a wide variety of choices of crafts (and the opportunity to combine them). These workshops are an hour long each and anyone who participates keeps what they make to carry with them where ever they may travel.

We are fully insured to teach at shows and have many decades of experience in teaching behind us. We prefer to bring three tents (3x4m or 3x3m), one for each craft, which we run side by side and supply all our own tools and equipment to site. The workshops are entirely off grid, leave no waste or rubbish behind and the blacksmiths workshop has a solar powered coal forge with solar/battery setup.

When not at festivals we each run our own companies two that are traditional smithys and the third being the leather and woodwork shop. If you are interested in having us along to your festival then please get back in touch as we would love to attend.

Jarod Tutton is a traditionally trained artist and architectural blacksmith who trained for two year at the Plumpton agricultural college since graduating he has continued to explore and develop his style and hone his skills, now he runs his own professional forge in the wonderful village of Marden.
Jarod loves everything gothic from the 12th century gothic architecture that set the gothic aesthetic in stone to the Victorian revival and now with pop culture dark fantasy in which His final pieces theme was styled as a throne for Morticia Adams.
Jarod however does not limit himself to one single style as he is well versed in all style’s history has presented to us and is always open to new avenues of design.

David Mortimer

David Mortimer, or Mort as he prefers to be known. Mort’s enthusiasm for the craft arose through his interest in archaeology. While working on archaeological sites he was inspired by the discovery of what he describes as fantastic old metalwork.
He has a BA(Hons) in Archaeology and an MSc in Osteology, Paleopathology and Funerary Archaeology. After spending five years in doctoral research at Sheffield University he turned his attention to traditional blacksmithing.
His academic back ground has assisted him in understanding the construction and uses of traditional metalwork and he is often asked to copy items in museum collections and to undertake commissions for the re-enactment market.
